The Chomolhari Trek
The Chomolhari trek is the most popular trekking adventure in Bhutan. Chomolhari trek lets you immerse in the richness of Bhutanese culture while visiting their century’s old monasteries, dzongs and art centers. This exciting Chomolhari trek also gives us a wonderful opportunity to challenge ourselves walking through remote Himalayan trails with spectacular views and chance to get insights into local dwellers.
Chomolhari Trek initiates as you arrive at Paro on Druk Air with spectacular views of Himalayas and drive towards capital of Bhutan, Thimpu for visiting ancient monasteries, and dzongs. Next day we return towards Paro and visit art and crafts school, textile museum and paro dzong. We also visit the popular Taktshang monastery which is also a symbol of Bhutan. In this way finally next day we take a short drive to Drukgyel Dzong and initiate trekking activity. We walk along the Paro River surrounded by agricultural fields. Upcoming day, the trail becomes quite challenging and as we gain altitude, slowly we start to get views of Mt. Chomolhari. On the course of our journey, we also try the locally produced yak cheese. We acclimatize properly before attempting to cross high altitude passes of Bhonte la and descend towards Soi Yaksa. After capturing the best views of high Himalayas we leave Taybu, Shana behind and drive back to Paro to catch our flight for onward destination.Join Chomolhari trekking in Bhutan with Buddhaeye treks.
